Persevere!

We have more access to information from anywhere in the world now than we have ever had before. The internet can provide the most intimate details of any subject, literally, in the click of a mouse. Radio and television give us news from around the world, sometimes repeating the same stories over and over, ad nauseum. Reality TV shows are popping up with an alarming pace, exposing us to all sorts of things we, at least I, don't care to know. Yet, how much of it is true? Are we getting correct information? How much of this 'news' is scripted for the 'best entertainment value'? It's getting harder and harder to find the truth under all the hype we are being fed. How do we find our way through all the tangle of information?

The book of Jude was written for a time not like today.

"For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.(vs4) In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings.....These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. (vss 8,16)

But here is the best part!

But dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (vss 17-20)

Persevere! Ground yourself in prayer and faith; keep reading His Word so you will not be led astray by false teachers and the godless of this world. For it is God who guides us into truth (Psalm 25:5), Who reveals His truth in His Son Jesus (John 1:17) and in His Word, which is truth (John17:17).
